Ted Lewis held his first one man exhibition at the Hesley Gallery in Orange, NSW, in 1976 at the age of 18. Since then he has had successful exhibitions in Orange, Bathurst, Sydney, Peak Hill, South Port (Queensland), Canberra, Molong and Canowindra. More exhibitions are planned for Sydney, Dural and Canberra in the near future.

Ted has a great love of the Australian bush and takes his paints with him wherever he goes. He tries to capture the light and vibrancy of the ever-changing landscapes. Landscapes that range from the colourful beaches to the brilliant reds and blues of Central Australia - the subjects are endless and the challenges many.

In many of his works, Ted likes to experiment with colour to produce a more contemporary landscape, particularly in acrylics, while using oil to produce subtle changes in light and atmosphere.

Over the years, Ted has received several awards for his work. They include:

  • People's Choice at the Cowra Art Awards, 2007
  • Royal Easter Show, Traditional Landscape Award, 2007
  • Traditional Award at Dubbo 20th Biannual Exhibition in 2006
  • People's Choice at the Cowra Art Awards 2002
  • People's Choice at the 2001 Sydney Royal Easter Show
  • Henry Lawson Contemporary Award in Grenfell in 2001
  • Henry Lawson Art Award in Grenfell 2000
  • People's Choice at the 1998 Stanthorpe Art Purchase

Ted's most valued acknowledgement comes from the people who continue to admire and purchase his paintings.
